SUMMER 2016 CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

JUNE 30TH, JULY 1ST, JULY 7TH FOR HATTIE CARTHAN COMMUNITY MARKET AND HERBAN FARM

JULY 28TH - VOLUNTEER WORK DAY AT THE FARM - AUDREY LORDE PROJECT VOLUNTEER DAY

The farm scale up has begun. Over the next twelve months we will add a cob oven/ bread baking work area, a rainwater farm washing stall a rain water handwashing stall amd worm bank. This is the first season as a preserved parks site, we are building the infrastructure to facilitate herbal processing on site.

We focused on getting the farm and apothecary ready for a robust healing season.

AUGUST 8TH - FARM SCALE-UP INSTALLATION OF NEW RAINWATER BARRELS

New rainwater barrel projects happening on the farm. Thanks to our councilman's office for the gift of rain water barrels. We will create a multi use system for greenhouse irrigation and hand washing as well as a farm washing stall and outdoor kitchen.

Having these systems in place helps us to rely less and less on city water to do agricultural work. It also helps other groups trying to build new farms to have a template of a working city farm and appropriate urban farm technologies. We are grateful to our efficient sea creature Lee Free for all his leadership and vision in the area of water conservation. Understanding the element of water and the necessity of water to be reabsorbed into the Earth in urban areas is key to our work in cities. If only everyone implemented this intelligence we would not have the polluted runoff problem that exists today.
When our communities and young people don't learn these vital skills we become crippled, helpless, and unable to advance any type of sovreignty in our communities.
